Mental Health Week

feathers

We hope you saw your beautiful feathers displayed at the front of the school- before the storm and wind took hold of it, that is! Despite being short lived, many commented on the lovely artwork that was contributed and it certainly was a great way of commemorating Children's Mental Health Week. Just fabulous!

Year 3

We have had a great mental health awareness week in year 3. We had lots of fun getting as creative as possible with all of the different activities. Both the children at home and in school created some beautiful feathers for the collaborative art work. The children at home used vibrant colours and stickers to express how they felt with their feathers. In school we created salt dough feathers and then painted them before finally coating them in glitter. We all thought it was the best way to spend an afternoon. We have also seen some excellent musical kitchens at home and some very cosy looking safe places. It has been a great week and just what we needed to help us when things can be a little harder than normal.

The children have really enjoyed Mental Health Week. We have been making feathers and making different emoji’s in school and at home. One day we got all the instruments out and played chanting Baa Baa Black Sheep showing different feelings, we chanted it in an angry voice, happy, excited and calm. It certainly cheered us all up! The children were introduced to Mood Monsters that showed different emotions and have been filling in their rainbow arches every day. The paper chain activity was a great success as you can see by the pictures. The children told us something or someone they are thankful for. We had some lovely Foundation 2 drawings and verbal conversation about it.
