Enrichment Opportunities
At Thatcham Park, enrichment plays a vital role in bringing our curriculum and Christian vision to life. Through a wide range of experiences, pupils are encouraged to challenge themselves, explore the world around them and develop confidence, resilience and a sense of responsibility.
Rooted in our vision to encourage one another and build each other up, these opportunities enable pupils to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Whether through outdoor learning, community engagement or physical activity, pupils are supported to flourish and to recognise their role in contributing positively to the world around them.
Outdoor Learning
Ufton Court
Visits to Ufton Court provide rich, hands-on learning experiences that bring history and the wider curriculum to life. Pupils develop independence, teamwork and curiosity while exploring the natural environment and immersing themselves in meaningful, memorable learning.
Residential Visits
Our residential at Abernant Lake offers pupils the opportunity to step beyond their comfort zones, building resilience, confidence and independence. Through outdoor adventure and shared experiences, pupils strengthen relationships and develop a deeper sense of belonging.
Sport and Physical Development
Sport at Thatcham Park enables pupils to develop confidence, teamwork and perseverance. Through lessons, clubs and competitions, pupils are encouraged to support one another, celebrate success and lead active, healthy lifestyles.
Careful adaptation ensures that all pupils can participate and experience success, developing independence, self-belief and a strong sense of fairness and respect.
Community and Service
Vintage Adventure
Through our involvement in Vintage Adventure, pupils engage with members of the local community in a spirit of friendship and service. These intergenerational experiences help pupils to develop empathy, confidence and an understanding of the importance of kindness and inclusion.
Supporting Our Local Foodbank (Harvest)
Harvest provides a meaningful opportunity for pupils to take action in response to need within their community. Through supporting the local foodbank, pupils develop an understanding of social justice and learn that even small actions can make a significant difference.
Caring for Our World
Earth Day
Earth Day encourages pupils to reflect on their responsibility to care for the environment. Through activities such as creating habitats for wildlife and planting for pollinators, pupils develop a sense of stewardship and respect for the natural world.
Church and Community Partnerships
Our strong links with St Barnabas and St Mary’s Church enrich school life through shared worship, reflection and celebration. These partnerships provide pupils with opportunities to explore faith in meaningful and inclusive ways, deepening their understanding of values, community and belonging.
A Cohesive Experience
Across all of these opportunities, pupils are encouraged to:
- explore new experiences with confidence
- support and encourage others
- reflect on their actions and their impact
As a result, pupils grow in resilience, empathy and responsibility, recognising their ability to make a positive difference both within school and in the wider community.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as infact you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11
