Thatcham Park - A Church School

“Encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

Our vision in action

At Thatcham Park, everything we do is rooted in our Christian vision because we want every child and their families to thrive, whatever their starting point in life.

This means we support children not only in their learning, but also in:

  • how they treat others
  • how they respond to challenges
  • how they grow as individuals

We want children to discover what makes them shine—whether that is in:

  • creativity
  • music
  • sport
  • leadership
  • or the many other talents they develop during their time with us

At Thatcham Park, we believe in encouraging: our children; their families and each other as colleagues and friends. By doing this, we create a school community where: everyone feels supported; valued and enabled to flourish.

Following the example of St Barnabas

Our vision is inspired by the early Christian community and, in particular, St Barnabas.

Barnabas was known as “the great encourager”.
He supported others, recognised potential, and helped people grow in confidence.

We aim to model that same spirit:

  • noticing the good in others
  • offering support when things are difficult
  • and helping everyone feel valued

Our links with St Barnabas and St Mary’s Church

As a Church of England school, our strong links with St Barnabas Church and St Mary’s Church are an important part of our identity.

Through these partnerships:

  • children experience a sense of belonging to a wider community
  • we share in worship and celebration
  • we deepen our understanding of Christian faith and values

These relationships support our shared aim of helping every child to flourish within a caring, faith-filled community.

Collective Worship

Collective Worship is a central part of life at Thatcham Park.

It is a time when we come together to:

  • reflect on God’s love
  • celebrate achievements
  • learn from challenges and failures
  • think about how we live our lives

Together, these experiences help us explore the Christian values that shape our school.

Our Christian values in everyday life

As a Church of England school, our values grow directly from our vision. We live this vision through six core values:

  • Community – building a strong sense of belonging where everyone is supported
  • Compassion – showing kindness, care and understanding towards others
  • Respect – valuing each person as unique and important
  • Wisdom – helping children make thoughtful choices and learn from experience
  • Thankfulness – appreciating what we have and celebrating one another
  • Endurance – developing resilience and perseverance when things are challenging

These values are not just words.
They shape our daily actions, relationships and decisions, helping us to create a school community where everyone is encouraged, supported and able to flourish.
