Sport and Physical Development
Sport plays an important role in enabling pupils to flourish both physically and socially at Thatcham Park. Through a wide range of activities, pupils develop confidence, resilience and teamwork, learning how to support one another and celebrate shared success. Whether through PE lessons, clubs or competitive events, pupils are encouraged to challenge themselves, persevere and take pride in their achievements.
Our approach to sport reflects our vision of encouraging one another and building each other up. Pupils learn to work collaboratively, showing respect and encouragement towards their peers, whether they are competing or learning new skills. Opportunities such as team games, tournaments and inter-school events help pupils to develop a strong sense of community and belonging, while also promoting positive attitudes to healthy, active lifestyles.
Sport at Thatcham Park is inclusive and accessible to all. Careful support and adaptation ensure that every pupil can participate and experience success, regardless of their starting point. Through this, pupils develop independence, self-belief and a growing understanding of fairness, responsibility and teamwork.
As a result, pupils not only develop their physical skills but also grow in confidence, perseverance and respect for others, preparing them well for life beyond primary school.
