Reading

Continue to read at home and complete your reading journal.

William Shakespeare reading comprehension – there are three difficulty levels for you to choose from.

 - it would also be fab for you to do some extra reading around ‘Shakespeare’  - books or internet

Additional Tasks

Create your own archaeological dig

 - either bury something in sand or in plaster of paris

 - then use delicate tools to either brush or chip away to find the ‘artefact’

 - if people ‘dug up’ your artefacts in 1000 years’ time, what do you think they would learn about you? Perhaps draw a picture of the archaeological dig that would tell the world about you!

Fronted Adverbials

Adverbials tell us :

Remind yourself by creating a table like this and adding some examples to each column

 - this might give you more ideas in a fun way!

Writing

Write sentences about Shakespeare and his life that begin with some of the adverbials you found in the last task (ie, making them fronted adverbials!)

- best handwriting!

- it would be fab to carefully spell words from the Year 3 4 word list

- Join carefully and make sure not to curl your descenders

Maths - mass and weight

Daily arithmetic practise (15 – 20 mins practise)

 - you could use a website like this

-or make up some of your own – you could use a dice to randomly create some calculations.

History

You will need to have completed your reading task, and then carry out some additional research to find out about William Shakespeare

Key Question

When we studied the Ancient Egyptians, we found that the reason that we know so much about them now, over 3000 years later, is through the artefacts found in tombs. Is this the same for how we know so much about William Shakespeare?

- what are the best sources that historians used to find out about William Shakespeare?

Challenge – why are the historical sources that we use to find out about Shakespeare better than those used to find out about the Ancient Egyptians?

- present your response to these questions in a form of your choice

Grammar and Punctuation

Grammar

Use the expanded noun phrase mat and create some wonderful phrases. Use the poster to help you if you find it tricky.

Punctuation

Write expanded noun phrases into full sentences. Can you start a sentence with a fronted adverbial followed by a comma.

Here’s some examples fronted adverbials ( you should know how to use these!):

  2. Cautiously,
  3. Carefully but slowly,
  4. Quickly,
  5. Loudly,
  6. Softly,

Rivers

The Amazon River and create a fact file or your own book. Remember to use subheadings for a fact file or a contents page for a mini book.

Use the information given to help research this magnificent river.

Challenge :

  • Why do  people live near  River Amazon?
  • What do their houses look like?
  • Why is the river so important to the local population?
  • Think about food and transport…

Writing

Write a story or a description. You can either watch the fun video clip linked to water.        Or, you can produce a piece of written work based on the picture of a girl in a bath tub below . Remember you can change the main character in your story. Try to think about all the questions asked on the worksheet as it will improve your piece of written work.
