Support for children
We recognise and work hard to support children with Special Educational Needs in our school, implementing the Governors’ policy for Special Needs through the delivery of an appropriate, inclusive curriculum. These may be children with a physical disability, cognitive or sensory impairment or those who are very able or talented and require extra provision.
For more information regarding the SEN information Report at Thatcham Park Church of England Primary School please click here. This is not only the Local Offer submission, but also acts as the SEND Information Report.
Staff at Thatcham Park have adopted the recommendations for the identification and assessment of children with Special Needs expressed in the national Code of Practice. In addition to expertise in school, we work with outside agencies to support the learning of children with Special Educational Needs eg. Educational Psychologist, Sensory Consortium, Occupational Therapist etc.
Our school is accessible to all those with physical disability; the Governors’ Accessibility plan indicates policies to improve internal facilities for disabled pupils and visitors and to increase opportunities for pupils with sensory impairment.
We also recognise and support the needs of those children for whom English is an additional language. Working closely with the Local Authority, we ensure appropriate provision in school.
