Admissions
Admissions to school for children who are looking for a place in Foundation 2 (Reception) in the September prior to their fifth birthday are handled by the Local Authority, West Berkshire Council, and appropriate forms can be obtained from them or they are available on-line.By law, all children must start full time education at the beginning of the term which follows their fifth birthday.
Most of our pupils come from the designated catchment area, although families from outside this area or from other schools, for example those moving to the area, are entitled to apply for places. The majority of children in Year 6 move on to Kennet School, Thatcham.
The standard admission number for our school is 60 each year. Prospective parents are warmly invited to visit the school and see us at work and play and to find out about the education we offer. Please contact the Headteacher to arrange this.
The Local Authority criteria for admission to Thatcham Park are as follows:
- Children in public care or those deemed as vulnerable or at risk or children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs have priority.
- Children whose home address is in the designated area served by the school.
- Children who have brothers or sisters already attending the school.
- Parents who wish their child to attend a Church of England school.
- Children who have strong social or medical reasons for admission.
- Children with strong family connections with the school eg. older brothers or sisters attended.
- Children whose parents choose the school for reasons other than those stated above.
