Art statement of intent
As Artists pupils will be provided with the opportunity to be creative and explore their individual interests and ideas. As part of a balanced curriculum, they will be taught a range of skills throughout their time at Thatcham Park such as sketching, painting and 3D techniques. This will enable them to produce work that they are proud of, enabling them to succeed as they move on.
The children will explore the work of a range of artists both well known, local and current. They will practice their styles and then make them their own. Providing them with an awareness of the world around them.
Children will evaluate their own work and the work of artists. They will be analytical and discuss their thoughts and feelings towards a range of paintings, sculptures, and designs by both others and themselves.
Art units provide children with opportunities to:
- Explore the work of a range artists and discuss their thoughts and opinions.
- Be creative and explore their own ideas and thoughts.
- Build on skills and practice techniques.
- Use a range of media, such as paint, charcoal, pastels, clay etc.
- Analyse their own work and make improvements.
