Computing
Computing statement of intent
Technology is changing the lives of everyone. Through teaching computing, we aim to equip our children with the life skills that will enable them to utilize technology in a responsible and safe way in order to flourish. We will focus on developing the skills necessary to enable children to purposely use technology relevant to their learning.
Computing units provide children with opportunities to:
- be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.
- understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation.
- gain practical experience and use logical reasoning when designing, writing and debugging computer programs.
- evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems.
- use a variety of computer software to apply what has been learnt by producing relevant pieces of work that will not only allow them to accomplish goals, but to prepare them for the future.
