Safeguarding
Safeguarding
Keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do.
At Thatcham Park, we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child. We want all children to feel safe, secure and supported so they can learn, grow and flourish.
💛 A Safe and Caring Environment
We know that parents and carers trust us to keep their children safe each day.
We take this responsibility very seriously. Our staff and governors work together to make sure our school remains a safe, caring and secure place where children feel confident and protected.
👩🏫 Our Responsibilities
Everyone who works or volunteers in our school shares a commitment to safeguarding.
All staff receive regular training so they are confident in recognising concerns and know how to respond appropriately. Safeguarding is part of daily school life, and we remain vigilant to ensure every child is supported.
✅ Safer Recruitment
We follow strict procedures when appointing staff.
All adults working in school are carefully checked through our safer recruitment process. This includes enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and other required employment checks, helping to ensure that only suitable people work with our children.
📄 Policies and Procedures
Our safeguarding practice is guided by clear policies and procedures.
We follow West Berkshire safeguarding guidance, and our Child Protection Policy is available in the policies section of our website. These procedures help us to act quickly and appropriately if there are any concerns.
🤝 Working Together to Safeguard Children
Sometimes, we may need to share information or work with other professionals to keep a child safe.
We always aim to work in partnership with parents and carers and will usually discuss any concerns with you first. However, if we believe that doing so may not be in the best interest of the child, we will take advice and act to ensure their safety.
🌿 Our Commitment
Our priority is to make sure every child is safe, supported and able to thrive.
We are committed to creating a culture where children feel listened to, respected and protected. Safeguarding underpins everything we do, helping all members of our school community to flourish.
